Andreas Christensen has played down fears regarding his contractual situation; the Chelsea defender is yet to sign a new contract beyond 2022. Meanwhile, Antonio Rudiger is understood to be no closer to an agreement with the club over a new deal.

“I feel valued, I’m happy but I do not get into the contract situation. I do not know why everyone thinks it is a bad situation. Because I’m still happy and I enjoy playing football.

“I’m a player who right now enjoys playing football [at Chelsea] and the coach shows confidence [in me]. There is no bad relationship, there is nothing,”

the Dane told the Chelsea website.

As per Matt Law, Chelsea thought they had secured Christensen’s signature on a new contract, only for the Dane’s agent to propose bringing down the length of the deal from five to three years. However, as per Law, the club is hopeful that Christensen will yet sign the contract.

Things aren’t as positive on the Antonio Rudiger front, however. Law reveals that as it stands, it is more likely that the German leaves Chelsea at the end of his current deal, which is set to expire on June 30, 2022.

The Blues are unwilling to match Rudiger’s demands and there is thought to be far too much difference between the two parties for an agreement to be reached.

Rudiger joined Chelsea from AS Roma in the summer of 2016. The German has been in and out of the team since but locked down his spot under his compatriot Thomas Tuchel and helped the Blues lift their second Champions League title.
