Three players, who have been isolated since October 28, are expected to be in contention for the 1st ODI. However, the other three players, who tested positive between October 29 and November 2, will be in self-isolation till November 9 at least.

When the first three players tested positive, the trio was placed in isolation for ten days. All other players and staff went into a six-day quarantine. Among this group, three more players tested positive in new tests. As they came out to be COVID-19 positive on separate days, their respective isolation periods end on November 7, 8 and 9.

The first ODI will be played on November 8 at Karachi, and as things stand, it is expected to go ahead. The Pakistan Cricket Board has reaffirmed that they will be able to name a 15-member squad by November 6 and will have a playing 11 available for the first ODI. However, the six players that have tested positive have not been named by the board.

The 18-member squad for the West Indies series is set to fly over to Zimbabwe later this month for the World Cup qualifiers against Zimbabwe and WI. The tri-series of sorts will commence on November 21 and conclude on December 5.

Both Pakistan and West Indies will hope to win the bilateral series in the coming days, as it will give their team a mental advantage during the World Cup qualifiers.

The West Indies Women team landed in Pakistan on November 1. However, due to the COVID-19 protocols, they have trained just once. The Stafanie Taylor-led side practiced at the Karachi National Stadium yesterday, hoping to get up to speed ahead of the 3-match ODI series.
