The Catalans secured their second successive 1-0 win in their Champions League group – both against Dynamo Kyiv – to give their qualification hopes a much-needed boost. Elsewhere, Robert Lewandowski punished Benfica with a hattrick.

Ansu Fati, who saw a penalty decision go against him early in the second half, scored the goal in the 70th minute. A cross from Oscar Mingueza deflected off a defender and into the path of the teenager, who blasted it into the roof of the net from close range.

Thanks to the win, Sergi Barjuan’s side jumped to second in the group, six points behind the already qualified Bayern Munich.

Munich, meanwhile, routed Benfica with Robert Lewandowski scoring three goals. Qualification to the next round was a mere formality for the Bavarians, who had won every game in the group so far, but they officially secured passage to the knockout stage in style.

The Pole opened the scoring in the 26th minute, as he headed the ball in at the back post after some excellent wing play on the right by Kingsley Coman.

Six minutes later, Bayern doubled their lead; Joshua Kimmich picked Lewandowski out with a ball over the top of the defense, and the Polish striker squared it to Serge Gnabry, who backheeled it into the net.

Only Robert Lewandowski has scored more goals (20) for Bayern Munich this season than Serge Gnaby (7).

Morato pulled a goal back for Benfica in the 38th minute, heading in a cross from Alex Grimaldo. Bayern, however, continued their charge after the break and scored their third just four minutes after the restart.

Kimmich, again, picked out Gnabry with a long pass out to the left flank, and the latter cushioned his header into the path of Leroy Sane, who lashed home a shot from inside the box.

Lewandowski completed his hattrick with a goal on either side of a Darwin Nunez strike. The Polish striker lifted the ball over the goalkeeper on both occasions, as Bayern ran riot with a 5-2 win.
