The Argentine – who suffered from dizziness during Barcelona’s draw against Alaves in La Liga (1-1) on October 30 and had to be taken to a hospital – is expected to be out for three months due to cardiovascular arrhythmia in the latest blow to Barcelona’s season.

The Blaugrana summer signing Sergio Aguero will be out for three months due to cardiovascular arrhythmia, confirmed the club. The 33-year-old left the pitch during Barcelona’s weekend draw against Alaves after complaining of chest discomfort. He was transferred to a hospital where tests confirmed the diagnosis, effectively ruling him out for the next three months.

The club confirmed that Aguero will miss the next three months as he undergoes a recovery exercise devised by Dr. Josep Brugada.

“He is unavailable for selection and during the next three months the effectiveness of treatment will be evaluated in order to determine his recovery process,”

    read the statement.

Aguero joined Barca on a free transfer this summer after securing his release from Manchester City. However, the forward had to wait a while to make his debut for the club; he suffered the first eight weeks of the season due to a calf injury.

He finally made his debut for the Blaugrana on October 17 in a 3-1 win over Valencia and scored his first goal a week later in the Clasico against Real Madrid. Aguero was only able to make four appearances in the league – and one in Europe – before he was ruled out for the next three months this past weekend.

Aguero’s absence will likely affect Barcelona negatively amid an already troublesome season. The team is currently languishing in the ninth position in the league, the consequence of which was the sacking of Ronald Koeman last week. They are also third in their Champions League group after three matches, a point behind Benfica and six behind leaders Bayern Munich.
