On Monday morning, Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed they decided to relieve Nuno Espirito Santo from his duties after just four months in charge. The board are expected to begin their search for a new manager promptly.

Reports broke through on Sunday that Spurs were contemplating relieving Nuno of his duty following a disastrous Premier League defeat against Manchester United (3-0), who themselves had lost 5-0 to Liverpool a week ago.

    • 0.62 v West Ham
    • 1.37 v Newcastle
    • 1.92 v Villa
    • 1.14 v Arsenal
    • 0.78 v Chelsea
    • 0.10 v Palace

The Portuguese leaves the club eighth in the table after ten games; his team won five and lost five, albeit those five defeats came against Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United, West Ham, and Crystal Palace with the team conceding three goals in four of those matches.

Tottenham’s director of football Fabio Paratici – who himself arrived at the club this summer – expressed disappointment at Nuno’s sacking in a statement released via the club’s website.

“I know how much Nuno and his coaching staff wanted to succeed and I regret that we have had to take this decision,”

“Nuno is a true gentleman and will always be welcome here. We should like to thank him and his coaching staff and wish them well for the future.”

    he said.

Spurs spent the majority of the summer in search of a new manager after deciding against hiring Ryan Mason permanently. The Englishman had stepped in to fill in the gap left by Jose Mourinho’s dismissal in April, and could well return to the club to take the reins on an interim basis yet again – claim reports.

Meanwhile, other candidates in the frame for the job candidacy are Porto’s Sergio Conceicao and former AS Roma boss Paulo Fonseca, as per The Telegraph.

According to The Athletic, Spurs have decided to reignite their interest in former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte, who has also been linked with Manchester United recently.

Spurs did approach the Italian with a job offer in the summer, but a deal fell through due to undisclosed reasons.
