Afghanistan’s superstar spinner Rashid Khan took to social media to convey a heartfelt note to the fans after his side steamrolled Scotland on Monday’s Super 12 game of the T20 World Cup at Sharjah.

With a grim situation prevailing in Afghanistan after a period of lengthy political turmoil, Khan dedicated his team’s spectacular victory to the citizens, who have not had much to feel happy about in recent months. He also went on to assure his countrymen that his side would continue to do well going forward in the tournament.

Great start congratulations to Everyone and specially to the people back home 🇦🇫.I hope this win have given you something to smile and celebrate. INSHALLAH We will do the best and make the country and nation more proud.Your prayers and support is always🔑🇦🇫

After their fantastic performance against the Scots on Monday, the Afghans’ Net Run Rate is sky-high given the massive margin of victory.

In what was a completely dominating performance by the Mohammad Nabi-led, Afghans outclassed the hapless Scots comprehensively in all departments.

The wickets in Sharjah seem to have gotten slightly faster, and the ball seems to come onto the bat better. With that being the case, Afghanistan got off to a great start as their batsmen all made decent contributions.

Openers Hazratullah Zazai and Mohammed Shahzad set the tone for the innings, while Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Najibullah Zadran played excellent innings as Afghanistan reached a big total of 190/4.

Spinners Mujeeb-ur-Rahman and Rashid Khan picked up 9 wickets among themselves as Afghanistan set up a huge 130-run win.

Next up, Afghanistan play Pakistan in Dubai on October 29, as they look to cement their place in the Semi-finals after a strong showing in the Super 12 stages.
