Both Inter Milan and Juventus lost ground on joint league leaders AC Milan and Napoli, after the pair could only play out a draw in the Derby d’Italia. Inter looked to be heading towards a victory until the very last moment when Paulo Dybala stepped up to rescue a point for Juventus from the spot.

Internazionale took the lead through Edin Dzeko in the 17th minute after the Bosnian was free inside the box to slam the ball into an empty net after Hakan Calhanoglu’s initial shot from distance had rattled the crossbar. Wojciech Szczesny had already committed himself to Calhanoglu’s effort and was unable to get back on his feet in time to save Dzeko’s follow-up.

The Bianconeri amped up their efforts in search of the equalizer, and Juan Cuadrado and Dybala both were close to getting one either side of the break. The main talking points, however, did not arrive until the very end, when a lazy foul by Inter’s Denzel Dumfries on Alex Sandro culminated in a spot-kick for the Bianconeri, but only after a VAR review. Dybala stepped up and calmly side-footed the ball into the net, with Samir Handanovic diving the other way.

Inter Milan led Juventus until the 89th minute, before conceding a penalty.

Paulo Dybala stepped up, rescued Juve's unbeaten run and extended it to 9⃣ games, on his return from injury.

Elsewhere, Napoli visited AS Roma in the hopes of securing their ninth straight win of the season. Nicolo Zaniolo and Tammy Abraham nearly spoiled Napoli’s clean sheet in the early stages of the game, but both players put their respective shots on the wrong side of the post.

Meanwhile, Victor Osimhen was a constant threat to the Roma backline; the Nigerian forward hit the post with an effort in the first half and saw another tipped over by Rui Patricio in the second.

Frustrations boiled over as neither side was able to get a breakthrough, which eventually resulted in Jose Mourinho receiving his marching orders from the referee.

After the final whistle, Napoli head coach Luciano Spalletti suffered a similar fate as he, too, was shown a red by the head official. Neither team, however, was able to break the deadlock, and the match ended 0-0.
