Premier League’s match week 9 started on Friday night in London with Arsenal smashing three past Aston Villa, and included some stunning results for Manchester City and Chelsea, but they will grab headlines only until Liverpool and Manchester United players walk out of the Old Trafford tunnel.

Chelsea were at their clinical best against bottom-of-the-league Norwich City. They smashed seven goals past the Canaries to establish further dominance on the top spot. Mason Mount had not scored for a while for the Blues, but got a hat-trick in this clash. He opened the scoring for the home side, before Callum Hudson-Odoi and Reece James tripled the lead before half-time.

Ben Chilwell got their fourth before the hour mark, and his cross a few minutes later induced an own goal from Maxi Aarons. A terrible challenge from Ben Gibson got him sent with 25 minutes remaining. Mount completed his hat-trick late into the game as the Blues finished a 7-goal mauling, making it yet another clinical win for Thomas Tuchel’s side.

Leeds United and Wolves played out a thrilling 1-1 draw at Elland Road. Hwang-Hee Chan continued his golden run in the league, scoring yet again for the Wolves to provide them with an opener. Late in the game, a penalty for the home side converted by Rodrigo, made it all square before the whistle went off.

    🎙 Graeme Jones on #CRYNEW:

"It’s a base for us to start. I want us to be better on the ball but that doesn’t happen overnight. We’ve concentrated on trying to shore up and not concede as many goals and I think that worked today." pic.twitter.com/MXKtaJu5Lv

Newcastle United held Crystal Palace (1-1) at Selhurst Park with a spirited defensive display. Christian Benteke’s opener in the second half was cancelled less than 10 minutes later, by Callum Wilson, who scored two goals in two games after his return. Benteke’s was cancelled in the final few minutes, with Marc Guehi pulling down a defender in the interplay.

Josh King’s hat-trick and goals from Juraj Kucka and Emmanuel Bonaventure earned Watford a memorable 5-2 win over Everton at Goodison Park. Although Tom Davies started the scoring for the Toffees three minutes into the game, Watford railed through them and earned three vital points.

Southampton captured a crucial point in a 2-2 draw Burnley, with goals coming from Valentino Livramento and Armando Broja.

130 – This is the 130th different occasion that Man City have scored at least 3 goals in a single game under Pep Guardiola (42%). Rampant.@PepTeam | @ManCity | #ManCity https://t.co/iLmaOoSVZJ

The day finished with Manchester City absolutely battering Brighton (4-1). Ilkay Gundogan scored the first goal after a goal-keeping mistake from Robert Sanchez, before Phil Foden scored twice.

The hosts tried pulling things back at the end with a goal Alexis Mac Allister, but Riyad Mahrez’s late goal denied Brighton any smiles.
