Newcastle United have announced that their manager Steve Bruce has left his position after the club’s 3-2 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur. Having been in charge of the club since 2019, the Englishman was not seen as the club’s future manager ever since the Saudi-backed consortium took over the club.

“He (Bruce) leaves the Magpies after more than two years in charge, having steered the club to 13th and 12th-place finishes in the Premier League and reaching the quarter-final stage in both the Emirates FA Cup and Carabao Cup during his tenure.

Newcastle United would like to place on record its gratitude to Steve for his contribution and wish him well for the future,”

    the statement said.

The former Manchester United centre-back has given his best wishes to the new owners and is expecting great things to happen in the coming years. He thanked his coaching staff and players for the time they worked together, and said that everyone involved should be proud of the effort they put together.

United have also announced that Graeme Jones, who was in Bruce’s team as an assistant coach, will be the interim boss of the Tyneside club. He will be supported by the coaching team of Steve Agnew, Stephen Clemence, Ben Dawson and Simon Smith, who will oversee the team’s trip to London, where they face Crystal Palace.

In the club announcement, te club clearly mentioned that a new appointment will be made soon, and they will not comment further about it.

Newcastle currently are 19th on the Premier League table, and they have a tough run of fixtures. After their away fixture against Palace, they host one of the favorites of this season, Chelsea, followed by a trip to London again to play Brentford before the international break ends.

The club are currently looking at a number of options among managers and players who can be recruited over the coming months. They will do everything within their power to ensure they don’t end up in the Championship.
